    BSAFE is a safer solution because it reduces shock hazard by isolating the line side circuits of the main 3 phase disconnect. The BSAFE moves the prospective arc source away from the qualified worker and out of the interior of control panel after LOTO; this in conjunction with recommended current limiting devices on the feeder circuit and other incident energy reduction methods, reduce arc flash hazards. The BSAFE also trains & instructs the worker in achieving an electrically safe work condition. Lastly it alerts the qualified worker to the presence of live voltage.

    The BSAFE adds convenience by providing a separate power source for control voltages. PLCs, HMls, network switches and other controls electronics can remain powered during LOTO. Testing, troubleshooting and voltage measurement on circuits 50V or less can be accomplished by the qualified worker while the panel is in an electrically safe work condition.

    How does the BSAFE panel improve work place safety?

    1. Reduces Shock Hazards –In traditional control panels the main 3 phase disconnect is mounted inside the control panel where the line side circuit parts of the main disconnect switch remain live when locked out. This exposes the qualified worker to energized circuit conductors when the door is open despite the disconnect being LOTO. Consequently, limited approach and restricted approach boundaries (per NFPA 70E) now apply when the panel door is opened. The BSAFE isolates these line side circuits that remain live when the main 3 phase disconnect is off. The BSAFE panel prevents unintentional access to these live conductors and any possibility of crossing the limits of approach due to the physical barrier of the control panel wall and separate BSAFE panel.
    2. Reduces Arc Flash Hazards – The BSAFE moves the prospective arc source away from the qualified worker and out of the interior of control panel after LOTO; this in conjunction with recommended current limiting devices on the feeder circuit and other incident energy reduction methods, reduce arc flash hazards.
    3. Trains and instructs – The BSAFE guides the qualified worker through the steps of achieving an electrically safe work condition.
    4. Alerts – The BSAFE alerts the qualified worker to the status of live 3 phase power by means of voltage presence indicator lights.
    5. Facilitates safer testing & troubleshooting – The BSAFE provides a means of testing, troubleshooting and voltage measurement of live circuits 50V or less after the panel has been placed in an electrically safe work condition. Technicians, programmers and electricians can accomplish most of their troubleshooting work in an electrically safe work condition unlike traditional systems.
